Here are 43 places in Charlotte most likely to flood from Hurricane Florence rains
As Hurricane Florence rumbles into North Carolina, local stormwater officials will keep a particularly close watch on more than 40 flood-prone locations across Mecklenburg County.
In previous storms, debris has washed downstream and become lodged into culverts and under road crossings at sites, which include waterways such as Briar and Sugar creeks.
Within the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services, these locations are known as the “usual suspects,” said John Wendel, spokesman for the department.
Tim Trautman, an engineering program manager for Storm Water Services, said officials will inspect the sites after the storm passes. He warned residents not to wade into the water themselves.
